Old Navy Style: Winter Neutrals

untitled-12

This weekend, Luis and I went out to pick our real Christmas tree! It's always something I look forward to but this year is a little different because my family is visiting from Florida for 2 weeks. We circled around the lot... and circled... and circled. We always get the beautiful fluffy, hunter green christmas trees that are tall and full. We kept going back and forth until we found one that had almost a lime green hint. With dark wood floors, it contrasts so nicely! We hung pictures in our tree and it made me so sentimental. I love this time of year because we're forced to reflect on all of our memories to date. I try to figure out how the year just flies right past me while I'm still over here wondering why it feels like we just celebrated my birthday. It's so ca-ray-zay to me still!

On top of all of the Christmas festivities, I had another opportunity to work with Old Navy and well... their holiday sales are GOLD. I snagged these liquid leggings last season for FIVE DOLLARS. CINCO!! And bagfuls of beautiful winter neutrals for under $100. I'm always so impressed how their pieces marry together like they'd meant for it the whole time. I found so many ponchos that reminded me of the cape trend I've been craving all winter and so I decided to pair it with a grey shift dress that was SO warm. I'm so so into layering right now! I've linked all the goodies below. You HAVE to check out their sales right now! Aside from the christmas shopping, I hope you get a chance to wind down and enjoy time with your families this season. Cheers, friends!

trip-album-ART

It's about that time I share another one of my coveted playlists. I called this one "Trip" because it's exactly what happens when I start playing... I'm either on the road, lost in designing or just zoning out. I love sharing these with you guys because I feel like we get a little sense of being connected in some way. Anyways, I hope you had a great week, babes. I can't believe the weekend is FINALLY here. Here's to your trip! xx

Don't forget to subscribe to my playlist to see additions throughout the week!

NYFW Recap: Outtakes Part II

0W9A3187

Dang... and just like that my NYFW recaps have come to an end. In this last behind-the-scenes recap, Stacey, Christina and I headed to the Lola Creative Agency studios to shoot our video pitch for #SfBloggersTakeNYFW. We got to work with Julian Edward who has worked with The Weeknd, Wiz Khalifa, and has an amazing artful eye for lifestyle photography. We were so stoked to work with Lola because they're making their name in the bay area and we were introduced to Julian's work at the same time!

Shooting the video was no easy feat. We had a vision of what we wanted it to look like and it really was a first for all of us to be filmed in a group setting. When you film yourself for tutorials, you can edit out what looks weird or if you mess up it's not a big deal, but filming in a group setting was challenging because you always have to be on your A game. Sit up straight, suck it it, smile, wait... am I doing my resting bitch face? Oh gosh, were my eyes open enough? Am I repeating myself? It's crazy and funny to do all at the same time. But of course, without a sweat, Julian pulled off the video and we loved it. He was able to capture our personalities and quirks which made it that much more special. Check out our video here!

A huge thanks to Lola for collaborating with us on such a cool project and to Julian + his hilarious assistant (BJ) for sticking with us through the day + a big kiss to my sweetie (#landofries) for taking our behind-the-scenes photos!

Old Navy Style: Coolin' in Culottes

untitled-11

Summer came and went. Culottes came and went - only this time I'm showing you how to extend the life of those beloved culottes with a little style tip on wearing them for Fall and Winter. It is no doubt that when chili season rolls around I can be found sporting opaque tights in every color. I mix it up from time to time but nothing compares to a great pair of LBT (little black tights). Sometimes culottes can have a reverse effect and can actually make you look shorter, so a tip is to lengthen the look of your legs with dark tights and dark boots or heels. I love a pair of culottes with platform oxfords, with heels or boots.

Kudos to Old Navy for returning these beauties in tons of colors. I love the structure of these and these have a great and simple pattern for layering. On top of that, I'm a huge sucker for Fall/Winter coats. The bigger, and the more clothes I can layer underneath, the better! And even though this poor Florida girl suffers with the cold weather, Fall and Winter time are my favorite seasons to dress for. So, tell me.. think you'll keep your culottes around for one more season? Fill me in!

Coat 1 & 2, Culottes, Purse, and Scarf sponsored by Old Navy. A huge thank you to a brand I so very much admire and a hug to you for coolin' with me today! x

Monday Muse: Mindy Kaling

MindyWallpaper

It's no freakin' surprise that Mindy Kaling is one of my favorite comedians. Luis and I watch her show, The Mindy Project religiously and I just finished her last book, "Why Not Me?" and it was perfection. I couldn't just pass up on the chance to feature my true everyday muse with a few backgrounds that speak TO MY LIFE and to Mindy's fashion sense. I love that she's always so colorful and pushes the boundaries no matter what she's dressing for. Here are a few of my favorite Mindy quotes along with one that I just decided you need in your life. 'Cause Mindy Kaling IS my spirit animal!

NYFW Recap: Outtakes Part I

KS-8419_edited_YT

Being at NYFW was SUCH a cool experience and I shared a few recaps here, here, and here. But some of the best memories I have come from our pre-work! The prep work, if you will. Stacey, Christina and I put together a cool media kit and had a professional video made to pitch to companies before we got to NY. So in a two part recap, I'm sharing our first photoshoot together - EVER. A huge thanks to Kai Sotto for help us and for capturing our personalities so FREAKING well! <3

My Favorite Spanx Leggings

untitled-6

I go through this wear-all-black-all-the-time phase every so often. Usually when it's colder. Usually when I'm so over everything in my closet it's like a silent protest my body does. And ALWAYS when I'm in doubt of what to wear. So I was going through that time of my life again when I nearly had my socks blown off because Spanx asked me to be part of their ambassador program. Yes, SPANX. Like the fajas your mom used back in the day and then all of a sudden you left for college, gained the freshman 15 and realized, "damn I need something to keep all these curves in check!" Yep, those. So I did like any girl and called my mom to let her know that all those fajas I stole from her closet all those years ago were coming back into my life! New collaborations, new inspiration to try something new - but wait...

You can imagine my excitement when I learned that Spanx not ONLY does underwear, hosiery, bras, but jeans and leggings, too! I saw these liquid leggings and KNEW I met my match. Luis has asked me every weekend so far if I'm going to decide to wear anything else in my closet because I cannot - and will not - take these off. I have a few good problems. 1: they go with everything. 2: they go with everything and amplify typically whatever looks into, "um.. where are you going?" 3: they make me feel damn good. Everything is in it's place. Perfectly tucked in and I can still walk, eat and breathe with them on. So I don't know if you're running to the store yet but LET ME TELL YOU - I might need a few back-ups. I found this ruched dress from H&M, added a fur jacket, some gloomy weather and BAM Spanx Leggings FTW, guys. For the mf win!
